The Future of Environmental Leadership in the Pacific Northwest

43rd Annual Conference

Pacific Northwest International Section

Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA)

Girdwood (Anchorage), Alaska;  September 24-26, 2003

Companies of all sizes who have an interest in environmental issues – air, water and waste – have an opportunity to participate as a sponsor in the Pacific Northwest International Section (PNWIS) 2003 Annual Conference.  The conference, to be held in Girdwood, Alaska at the Alyeska Prince Hotel, is expected to attract 200 delegates, speakers and exhibitors.  The conference theme “The Eagles’ Vision: The Future of Environmental Leadership in the Pacific Northwest”; will address contemporary environmental issues in our region.  This is the first time in over 25 years this conference has been held in Alaska, and is a great sponsorship opportunity for Alaska businesses and organizations!

PNWIS, a regional section affiliate of the international A&WMA, is composed of numerous active chapters in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Alaska and British Columbia.  Chapters typically meet monthly and sponsor technical meetings, conferences and workshops in their respective regions.  Chapter boards are composed of voluntary participants who contribute to enhancing communication between industry, regulatory, consultant, academic groups and the community at large.

The 3-day PNWIS 2003 Annual Conference provides an opportunity for professionals from the Northwest region and beyond to learn from one another.  Participants (delegates, speakers, and exhibitors) will have a choice of over 30 sessions on air quality, soil and water contamination, environmental management and sustainability.  Keynote speakers may include policy makers, permit writers and project managers.  In addition, planning is underway for a one-day (pre-conference) professional development course; highly recommended to conference participants.  This is a rare local opportunity for Alaskan environmental professionals.
